Canterbury Spatial Network

The inaugural meeting of the Canterbury Spatial Network took place on Thursday 2nd June at Pomeroys in Christchurch.

The venue was noteworthy on two accounts:

  1. It is one of only two pubs currently operating in the Christchurch CBD, and
  2. It is almost the only brick building still standing in the vicinity. More then one person was to note "Hmmmm brick building, interesting choice" as they walked in the door.

Sponsorship from the SSSI, Intergraph and Eagle Technologies allowed the almost 50 attendees to enjoy some craft beers and nibbles. Any ideas the organisers had for future speed networking events went right out the window as everyone was observed busily networking of their own accord.

Common topics of conversation included:

The next event in Christchurch will be the Eagle 2011 ArcGIS Roadshow on 10th August at Peppers Clearwater Resort. The day will include a variety of presenters as well as an afternoon cocktail function to facilitate plenty of useful networking.
