Queensland Surveying and Spatial Skilled Workforce Development Initiative
Would you like 90% of your staff training costs to be paid for by the Federal Government?*
The Queensland Surveying and Spatial Skilled Workforce Development Initiative has taken steps to address the current skills shortage across our industry. As an employer of Surveyors and/or Geospatial Officers we need your help.
The Australian Government has announced The Critical Skills Investment Fund (CSIF), and has $200.2m to fund skills development over four years. From July 2011 $50m will be available to successful applicants. Expressions of Interests (EOI) have just been called and will close on 8 April 2011. To view further details of the CSIF click here.
For organisations with fewer than 100 employees, the Australian Government will contribute 90% of the cost with participating employers paying only 10%. For organisations with over 100 employees, contributions are arranged on a sliding scale with employer contribution increasing.
The Response - Queensland Surveying and Spatial Industry is booming!
The Workforce Development Initiative is fostering a consortium to bid for these funds. The focus of funding is to upskill existing workers, particularly:
How you can help
- Existing technicians/employees in Surveying and Spatial
- Those who have some skills but not all those required by the employer and need upskilling
- Those in areas of key demand, including; mining, construction, land/property surveying and local government
- Those in regional areas
This is a key opportunity, if you have existing or intended staff who would benefit from any of the following, we encourage you to help us:
There is a regional dimension associated with this initiative, so regional areas of Queensland carry additional weight.
- Skills refreshment
- Focused training
