Above is a photo of the presentation of 'Certificate of Appreciation' to Peter Barr (right) by the AHSCP Chariman (Commodore Rod Nairn, AM, RAN). The certificate acknowledges the efforts and commitment by Peter Barr to the SSSI, through his service on the Australasian Hydrographic Surveyors Certification Panel (AHSCP) for a period of 11 years (1998-2009). During this period he served as a Panel member representing Industrial Offshore Surveying / Private Practice.
The Hydrography Commission is pleased to offer it's first Online CPD Event for members. The online webinar will be on the new Ausgeoid09 and the changes/comparisons with Ausgeoid98. There will then be a discussion on the application of GNSS heighting to Hydrographic Surveys. The event will be on the 31st August starting at 11:00am (AEST), 10:30am (ACST) and 9:00am (AWST). The Hydrography Commission would like to welcome Hydrographic & Cadastral Survey as a new sustaining partner for the commission. The Bureau of Meteorology in conjunction with the Permanent Committee on Tides and Mean Sea Level (PCTMSL) is sponsoring a tides workshop aimed at raising the level of tidal knowledge of those people involved in marine operations, hydrographic surveying and data collection.
The workshop will be conducted at the National Tidal Centre, Australian Bureau of Meteorology, Adelaide, and will consist of lectures presented by National Tidal Centre, University of Tasmania and Australian Hydrographic Office staff, and hands-on processing sessions. It is scheduled to run over three days, 5th to 7th September 2011 with a field trip on the 8th September 2011.

CARIS Asia Pacific held a training course on the latest release of HIPS and SIPS 7.1 from June 20-24, 2011.
SSSI members who participated on the training course were entitled to 25 CPD points for the 5 day workshop.
