Roger currently holds the position of Chief Executive Officer of the SSSI and has done so since September 2009. In this role he is responsible for the Leadership and Strategic Direction of the Institute at the National Level. His role is to support and administer the implementation of the strategic plan as directed by the SSSI Board and establish effective monitoring processes for the achievement of strategic objectives, vision and values, he also is responsible for the development and monitoring of comprehensive corporate policies, program and risk management strategies that meet legislative and Government compliance standards and support organisational sustainability.
Since joining SSSI Roger has built up a strong network of effective REO to administer to work of the Regional Offices and his team at Head Office provide a truly customer service to members of SSSI.
Prior to joining SSSI he was the General Manager at the ACT & Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry where he was responsible for the daily managerial functions of the organisation. He was the Executive Officer of the ACT Association of Providers of Training Services in the ACT and a member of several VET committees both at the local and National level. In these roles he played a key leadership role to ensure that the ACT training agenda was a key strategy in Business performance as well as representing the ACT in the Training Environment at the National Level to ensure positive outcomes. He was the winner of the 2009 Norm Fisher Training Excellence Award for his contribution to Training in the ACT.
Roger has in the past sat on a number of Boards and Committee both in the ACT and at the National Level, as well as being a member of two Ministerial Councils (ACT Ageing and Canberra Institute of Technology)
Roger holds a Diploma of Management and a Graduate Certificate in Business Administration.
In taking on this role Roger “plans to build on the solid ground that the organisation was created on, build a sound financial model for sustainable growth and provide a customer service focus at the National Level to ensure that a good platform for growth is achieved”.
