John Minehan commenced his surveying career in January 1963 as a trainee survey draftsman. Since then he has worked as a full time TAFE teacher, lectured to University Surveying students and from 1977 to the present conducted a private survey practice in NSW as a sole practioner.
He holds a certificate in Land and Engineering Survey Drafting from Newcastle TAFE, a Bachelor of Applied Science (Surveying) degree from WAIT (now Curtin University) and a post graduate Diploma in Education from Sydney Teachers College. He became a Registered Surveyor in NSW in 1976.
John is a Fellow of the Institution of Surveyors New South Wales (ISNSW), an ISNSW Board Director and a past President of that organisation. He currently serves on the membership committee of SSSI. He represents SSSI nationally on the Property Law Reform Alliance (PLRA) and on the Standards Australia Sub-surface Utility Engineering (SUE) Development Committee.
He is committed to encouraging young men and women to undertake studies in Surveying at all levels. His particular passion in this regard is in facilitating and mentoring surveying graduates to become Licensed or Registered Surveyors.
